Orange Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    peel of 2 oranges (discard white)
    1/4 c. water
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    1 c. milk
    2 3/4 c. flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. nuts (if desired), coarsely chopped
Preparation
    Cut
    orange peel into thin inch-long strips.
    Add water and sugar.
    Boil
    together.
    Cool.
    Combine
    egg
    and milk and add to syrup.
    Combine dry ingredients and add to liquid; mix. Permit to stand
    for 10 minutes before baking.
    Use loaf tin. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or more.
    Cut with sharp knife.
