Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
3 1/4 c. flour
1 c. quick oats
1 1/2 c. Rice Krispies
1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation

Combine sugars, shortening, egg and vanilla.
Sift dry ingredients and add to sugar mixture; fold in cereals.
Chill dough overnight.
Roll in small balls.
Flatten with fork dipped in flour.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake for 10 minutes at 350\u00b0. Makes 4 1/2 dozen 3-inch cookies.
