Chocolate Pecan Meringues - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 egg whites
    3/4 c. sugar
    2/3 c. chopped pecans
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Beat egg whites, salt and cream of tartar until frothy. Add sugar gradually, beating until stiff peaks form. Fold in chocolate bits, nuts and vanilla. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto paper-lined cookie sheet. Bake at 300\u00b0 about 25 minutes. Remove and store in airtight container. Makes approximately 36 meringues.
