Forgotten Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. stew meat, cut up
    1 c. carrots, chunked
    3 stalks celery, diced
    4 to 5 potatoes, chunked
    1 small or medium onion, diced
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. Minute tapioca
    1 c. tomato juice
    1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms (if desired)
Preparation
    Put the first 5 ingredients into 3-quart casserole in layers as listed.
    Mix the sugar, salt, tapioca and tomato juice and pour over top of layered ingredients.
    Top with 1 can of mushrooms, if desired.
    Cover tightly.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 3 hours.
