Lenten Cabbage Medley - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large can sauerkraut
    1 small head cabbage
    2 to 3 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
    dark brown sugar
    salad oil
    peppercorns and bay leaf (optional)
Preparation
    Squeeze sauerkraut dry.
    Melt shortening in heavy skillet; brown sauerkraut
    well with about 3 tablespoons brown sugar, peppercorns and bay leaf, if desired.
