English Toffee Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. real butter
    3 Tbsp. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 milk chocolate bars
    3/4 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Combine sugar, butter and water in saucepan.
    Cook to 300\u00b0 (use candy thermometer), stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat; add vanilla and stir.
    Pour into buttered 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Lay chocolate bars on top and spread while hot.
    Chill thoroughly. Break into pieces.
    Makes great Christmas gift.
