Pecan Crunch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. butter
    1 c. brown sugar
    2 c. flour
    1 egg, separated
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
    1/2 c. pecan pieces
Preparation
    Cream butter, sugar and egg yolk until light in color.
    Add cinnamon, salt, vanilla and flour to make a thick dough.
    Press into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Sprinkle nuts evenly over top; press in slightly.
    Put unbeaten egg white on top.
    Tilt pan to spread; pour off excess.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Cut into squares while still warm.
