Ingredients

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. Crisco
2 Tbsp. cold water
1/2 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1/3 c. boiling water
1/3 c. sour milk
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. moist coconut
1 lb. orange slice candy, cut in small pieces
Preparation

Cream brown sugar and Crisco; set aside.
Mix your liquids and beaten eggs.
Add to creamed mixture.
Beat in your flour, baking powder and salt.
When well mixed, add your dates, nuts and candy pieces.
Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 350\u00b0 until light brown, 8 to 12 minutes.
This dough freezes well.
