Sauerkraut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1/2 c. chopped onions
    1 qt. sauerkraut (sold in glass jars)
    1 potato, pared and grated (about 3/4 c., grated)
    1 tsp. caraway seed
    boiling water (about 2 c.)
Preparation
    Melt butter in heavy saucepan.
    Add onions and cook until golden yellow.
    Stir in sauerkraut and cook for 8 minutes.
    Mix in potato and caraway seed.
    Pour in the boiling water.
    Cook, uncovered, over low heat 30 minutes.
    Cover and continue cooking 30 minutes longer.
    Brown sugar and/or an apple may be added to give different flavor.
    Servings:
    6 to 8.
