Braised Fish - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 c. oil
1 1/2 lb. pan-dressed fish or 1 lb. fish fillet, such as haddock
flour
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. garlic powder or 1 clove garlic, minced
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 Tbsp. sherry
water
1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
chives
2 medium ripe tomatoes, chopped
1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
1 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 c. water
salt to taste
Preparation

Dust fillets lightly with flour.
In a heavy skillet, heat oil and brown fish on both sides.
Combine sugar, garlic, and ginger with soy sauce, sherry and enough water to make 1 cup.
Pour over fish, cover and braise 10 minutes.
Uncover, add black pepper, chives, parsley and chopped tomatoes.
Cook, uncovered, another 5 minutes.
Mix together cornstarch, salt and water, blend well. Simmer 5 minutes more.
