Date-Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted dates
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. chopped nuts
1 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation

Chop dates; sprinkle soda over dates.
Pour boiling water over dates and soda; add butter and sugar.
Let cool.
Add flour, eggs, nuts and vanilla.
Pour into buttered loaf pan.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
Raise temperature to 350\u00b0 and bake until toothpick comes out clean.
Freezes well.
