Golden Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    2 c. strong black tea
    juice of 10 lemons
    juice of 10 oranges
    2 (No. 2) cans pineapple juice
    12 oz. maraschino cherries
    2 qt. ginger ale
    1 pt. pineapple sherbet
Preparation
    Chill 2 or 3 hours, then add 12 ounces maraschino cherries or juice only, saving cherries to freeze in ice ring.
    Add 3 gallons of water and 2 quarts of dry ginger ale when ready to serve. At the last minute, add an ice ring and 1 pint of pineapple sherbet.
