Ingredients

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. Crisco
3 1/2 c. flour
1 egg, beaten
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening together; add milk, then egg.
Mix well.
Put flour, soda and cream of tartar into flour sifter and sift into the batter.
Then mix or beat until all is well mixed. Chill the dough; overnight is best, but for a few hours at least. Then roll it thin, cut with floured cookie cutter and place on greased cookie sheet.
