**Fruit Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 egg
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. light brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. thick sour milk (1/2 c. sweet milk, add 1 Tbsp. vinegar to make sour milk)
    3/4 c. pecans
    1 c. dates, cut small
    1 c. candied cherries, cut in small pieces
Preparation
    Blend shortening and sugar.
    Add well beaten egg; sift flour, salt and soda together.
    Add alternately with the sour milk.
    Add nuts and fruit with last addition of flour.
    Drop by small teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet and bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 13 minutes or until a light brown.
