Applesauce Stack Cake - cooking recipe

2 sticks butter or margarine
1/4 tsp. Crisco
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. milk
40 oz. jar applesauce
1/2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

Heat filling ingredients in saucepan.
Spread about 1/2 cup of filling on first layer; add a layer of cake, then filling, repeating for all layers and ending with the last of the applesauce mixture on top.
Chill until ready to eat.
Best after in refrigerator for a few days.
