Grosmommy'S Half-Moon Pies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. dried apples
    2 c. water, plus some
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    4 Tbsp. shortening
    4 c. flour
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cook apples
    in
    2
    cups water, covered, until soft and most of the
    water
    has
    been
    taken up.
    Remove from heat and stir until smooth with potato masher.
    Add sugar, cinnamon and salt. Cool.
    Mix flour, shortening (heap shortening) and salt well.
    Add cold water to make a soft pie dough.
