Congo Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box light brown sugar
    3/4 c. melted shortening (half butter, half Crisco)
    3 eggs
    2 3/4 c. flour (plain)
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 pkg. chocolate bits
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening. Mix dry ingredients. Add egg, one at a time.
    Add dry ingredients, nuts, vanilla and chocolate bits. Bake in a greased pan at 350\u00b0 for 15 or 20 minutes. Cut in squares.
