Red Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sifted cake flour
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter or other shortening
1 c. sugar
2 sq. melted chocolate
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Sift flour once; measure.
Add soda and salt and sift together three times.
Cream butter and sugar.
Cream well and add egg. Beat well and add chocolate.
Add flour alternately with milk a small amount at a time.
Add vanilla; bake in greased pan, 8 x 8 x 2-inches, in moderate oven (325\u00b0) for 1 hour or until done.
Cake may be baked in two 8-inch layer pans in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 30 minutes.
