Pecan Pralines - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. buttermilk
2 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. pecan halves
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. butter
Preparation

Pour buttermilk, sugar and soda in large pot. Mixture will bubble up a lot. Stir until completely mixed and place over medium to low heat. Let cook until it reaches soft ball stage. Stir while cooking. The mixture will turn a brownish yellow color. When mixture reaches soft ball stage when dropping in cold water, remove from heat. Add pecans, vanilla and butter. Beat briskly by hand until mixture becomes glossy and starts to get thick. Spoon on greased wax paper. Let cool.
