Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. flour
    6 eggs, separated
    1 1/4 c. blackberry jam
    2 tsp. each: allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg
    1 c. black walnuts
    6 Tbsp. buttermilk, dissolved in 1 Tbsp. soda
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients, adding beaten egg whites last.
    Bake in 2 square pans or 3 (9-inch) round pans in a 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 oven until straw comes out clean.
