Creamy Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. granulated sugar
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    pinch of salt
    2 Tbsp. butter
    3 c. pecan halves
Preparation
    Combine sugar, soda, buttermilk and salt in a large cooking utensil.
    Cook briskly, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes, or until candy thermometer registers 210\u00b0.
    Add butter and pecans. Cook and stir constantly for 5 minutes, or until candy reaches 230\u00b0 or candy forms soft ball in water.
    Remove from heat.
    Beat until mixture loses it's gloss, then drop in mounds on waxed paper.
    If mixture hardens too fast, warm pan a minute or two over low heat. When cool, store in covered container.
