Grandma Luciano'S Clam Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. olive oil
    1 c. chopped onion
    1 glove garlic, minced
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    2 tsp. light brown sugar
    1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    1/4 c. dry white wine
    1/4 c. minced parsley
    3 (8 oz. each) cans minced clams
Preparation
    Drain clams, saving liquid.
    Saute onions and garlic in oil. Add remaining ingredients to pot, except clam juice; simmer 15 minutes.
    Add clam juice.
    Simmer additional 4 minutes, then remove bay leaf.
    Serve over favorite pasta with salad and bread.
