My Aunt Rachel'S Banana Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

scant 1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. mashed bananas (applesauce or prunes may be substituted)
1 egg
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts or dates (optional)
Preparation

Cream the shortening, sugar and bananas together.
Add egg. Add wet mixture to mixture of flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and nuts and mix well.
Pour batter into a 9-inch round mold that has been greased and well floured.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
Cool completely before removing from the mold.
