Bread-N-Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cucumbers (not peeled)
    1 pt. onions
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 qt. vinegar
    2 lb. brown sugar
    1/2 c. salt (plain, noniodized)
Preparation
    Soak sliced cucumbers and onion in salted ice water for 3 hours.
    Bring other ingredients to boil; add drained vegetables. Bring back to a simmer.
    (Do not boil.)
    Pack in jars.
    Makes about 4 1/2 quarts.
