Puffy Corn Fritters(Lenten Special) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/3 c. all purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    2/3 c. milk
    1 egg well beaten
    1 can whole kernel golden corn well drained
Preparation
    Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
    Blend milk and egg.
    Add gradually to dry ingredients.
    Stir in the drained corn and drop from tablespoons into deep hot fat (375\u00b0.)
    Fry until golden brown 4-8 minutes, depending upon size.
    Drain on absorbent paper towels and serve with maple syrup.
    Makes 16-18 fritters.
