Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. quick oats
1 c. chopped pecans
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation

Cream together the shortening, sugar and brown sugar until mixture is light. Add eggs, one at a time, then vanilla.
Beat until well blended.
Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt.
Gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in oatmeal, pecans and chocolate bits. Blend well. Drop by spoonfuls on well-greased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Makes 6 dozen.
