Angel Food Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. (heaping) cornstarch
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 egg whites
    2 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix cornstarch, sugar and salt together, then stir into rapidly boiling water.
    Cook until thick and clear, stirring constantly.
    Cool and add vanilla (optional:
    add 1/2 teaspoon almond extract).
    Stir in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Pour into cooked pie shells.
    Cover with whipped cream and coconut.
    Chill. Makes 2 pies.
