Dam Biscuits - cooking recipe

2 1/2 cups flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 cup warm water
1 pack dry yeast
3/4 cup warm buttermilk
Preparation

In a large bowl combine first 4 ingredients with a pastry blender. Cut in shortening until coarse crumbles. Place warm water in a bowl; add yeast. Stir until dissolved. Add yeast mixture and buttermilk to dry mixture and blend well. Roll dough on floured surface to 3/4 inch thick. Cut into 2 1/2 inch biscuits, cover and let rise until double, about 45 minutes. Bake at 400\u00b0 about 15 minutes.
