Marinated Cabbage Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. shredded cabbage
    3 to 4 carrots, shredded or chopped
    1 green pepper, chopped
    1 small onion, chopped
    3 to 4 stalks celery
    1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. salad oil
    1 c. vinegar
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1/4 tsp. dry mustard (optional)
Preparation
    Mix vegetables in large bowl.
    Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup oil over the vegetables.
    Stir in and let set 30 minutes. Boil the vinegar, sugar, water and seasonings for 1 minute and pour hot liquid over vegetables.
    Refrigerate.
    Will keep in refrigerator quite a while.
    Stir occasionally to marinate.
