German Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs, separated (use yolks, save whites)
    1 c. Crisco
    1/2 c. hot water
    1 bar German chocolate, melted in the water
    1 c. buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Beat egg whites stiff.
    Set aside.
    Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time.
    Add flour with the buttermilk.
    Add dissolved chocolate and vanilla, then fold in the egg whites.
    Cook in four layers at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
