Claude Dodson'S Cornbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. cornmeal
    1/4 c. flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 egg
    2 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. (heaping) baking powder
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
Preparation
    Melt 2 tablespoons shortening in iron skillet.
    Mix dry ingredients.
    Beat egg softly into center of mix.
    Pour in buttermilk and mix well.
    Pour into hot skillet.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 40 minutes.
