"Grandma Whittlesey'S Oatmeal Cookies" - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. brown sugar
    1 c. shortening or oleo
    2 eggs
    1 c. coconut (optional)
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. sour milk or hot water
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. oatmeal
    8 oz. chocolate chips or butterscotch chips
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs; beat well.
    Add coconut and dry ingredients.
    Add milk, vanilla and oatmeal; mix well. Add chips.
    Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
    Makes 4 to 5 dozen.
