Chow Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 red peppers
    7 green peppers
    1/2 c. salt
    14 onions (medium size)
    3 large cabbages
    5 c. sugar
    1 tsp. turmeric
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. vinegar or enough to come to top of mixture
Preparation
    Chop or grind cabbage, onions and peppers together.
    Add vinegar to come to top of mixture.
    Add all other ingredients; let come to a boil.
    Can at once.
    Yields approximately 20 pints.
