Lime Pear Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large box lime gelatin
    2 c. boiling water
    1 large can pears
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
    1 (12 oz.) container whipped topping
Preparation
    Dissolve the gelatin in the boiling water.
    Drain the pears and reserve the juice.
    Heat the juice to a boil and add the cream cheese to dissolve.
    Set aside to cool.
    Mash the pears with a fork.
    Cool the gelatin until it begins to gel, then beat for a few minutes.
    Add the pear juice and cream cheese mixture.
    Add the crushed pears and beat again for a few minutes.
    Fold in the whipped topping.
    Refrigerate in an oblong glass baking dish.
    Top with coconut or red cherries, if desired.
