3 pt. white sugar
1/4 lb. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pt. whole milk or cream
1/4 tsp. soda
1 lb. nutmeats
Preparation

This makes more than 3 pounds of candy; you will find it much easier to manage if two make it together.
First, pour one pint of sugar into a heavy aluminum or iron skillet and place over low heat.
Begin stirring with wooden spoon and keep sugar moving so it will not scorch.
