Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. (1 stick) margarine or butter
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
2 c. sugar
5 egg yolks
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can flaked coconut
1 c. pecans, chopped
5 egg whites, beaten
Preparation

Use three 8-inch wax paper lined layer pans.
Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Combine butter or margarine and shortening and beat well. Add sugar and beat until fluffy.
Add egg yolks, one at a time. Sift flour and soda together and add alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
Add vanilla, coconut and pecans.
Fold in carefully the beaten egg white.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until cake tests done.
