Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. white corn meal
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 egg
3/4 c. buttermilk

Preparation

Sift together the dry ingredients.
Combine egg and buttermilk and stir into dry ingredients.
Stir only enough to moisten.
Drop into hot deep fat.
Fry until golden brown.
Especially good with deep fried fish.
