Ingredients

2 eggs, beaten
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. Crisco, melted
1 c. milk
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

Combine eggs, sugar and Crisco.
Add milk.
Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.
Add to first mixture; stir until smooth.
Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface.
Dough will be soft.
Cut with floured doughnut cutter. Fry doughnuts in oil heated to 365\u00b0.
Turn and fry on both sides to golden brown.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
If desired, while still warm, sprinkle with powdered sugar or granulated sugar.
Cinnamon may be added for added flavor.
