Ingredients

1/2 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. milk
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. caramel syrup (recipe follows)
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream together sugar and softened butter.
Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy.
Add vanilla and caramel syrup and beat well.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Add to sugar mixture alternately with milk.
Stir only enough to mix ingredients thoroughly.
Bake in layers in a 375\u00b0 oven for 20 minutes.
Frost with Caramel Frosting
