Apple Pie Filling - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 qt. water
1/4 c. lemon juice
6 lb. apples (about 18)
1 3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

In a large bowl, mix water with 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Peel and core apples; slice directly into lemon water. In a 6 to 8-quart, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and remaining lemon juice. Drain apples; add to sugar mixture and stir gently. Let stand 20 minutes. Cook, uncovered, over medium heat, stirring often until mixture begins to thicken, about 10 minutes. Let cool. Pack in rigid pint freezer containers or freezer jars, leaving 1/2-inch headspace. Apply lids and freeze. Makes 6 pints. Stores in freezer up to 6 months.
