Fourteen Day Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. barrel salt
cucumbers
1 Tbsp. alum
4 c. vinegar
4 c. sugar
Preparation

Make brine of barrel salt and 1/2 gallon water. Place cucumbers in brine for 8 days. Pour off brine. Cover cucumbers in water mixed with alum and let stand for 24 hours. Pour off and cover cucumbers with clear water and let stand for 24 hours.
