Texas Brownies - cooking recipe

2 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. strong brewed coffee or water
1/2 c. dark unsweetened cocoa
1/2 c. butter or sour milk *
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

*If you don't have buttermilk on hand, substitute 2 teaspoons of vinegar or lemon juice mixed with 1/2 cup of milk or use powdered buttermilk according to the package directions.
