Apricot Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 sticks margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    3 c. sifted flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    few drops lemon extract
    1 large jar apricot preserves
Preparation
    Butter a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Melt margarine; add to sugar.
    Add egg, flour and baking soda; mix well.
    Then add lemon extract.
    Put a large handful of dough in freezer.
    Pat rest of mixture into pan and cover with preserves. Then crumble the chilled dough over the top and bake for 35 minutes.
