Ingredients

3 qt. flour
1 Tbsp. salt
1/2 c. lard or shortening
2 yeast cakes or pkg. yeast
Preparation

Put salt and lard in flour; work together.
Dissolve yeast in pint of lukewarm water.
Add to mixture and mix bread to form a stiff dough.
Add more warm water as needed to use up all of flour.
Knead about 20 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic like.
Grease top and let rise to twice its size.
Punch down and let it rise again.
Make into loaves or rolls; let rise until double in size again.
Takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Bake 45 minutes at 350\u00b0.
