Egg Strata - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 slices bread
    1/2 c. chopped onions
    1/2 c. chopped mushrooms
    10 strips bacon
    1 c. grated Swiss or Cheddar cheese
    12 eggs
    4 c. milk
Preparation
    Cut crusts, butter both sides and place 6 slices in bottom of 9 x 12-inch pan.
    Saute onions and mushrooms.
    Cook bacon; drain. Crumble.
    Spoon half of mushrooms, onions and bacon over bread. Cover with grated cheese.
    Repeat.
