Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 peck sliced green tomatoes
    8 large onions, peeled
    1 green pepper, cut up
    1 red sweet pepper, cut up
    1 quart vinegar
    2 c. white sugar
    2 c. brown sugar
    3 Tbsp. whole cloves
    2 5-inch sticks of cinnamon
    1 Tbsp. mustard seed
    3 Tbsp. whole allspice
    pickling salt
Preparation
    Combine green tomatoes, onions, green pepper red pepper and sprinkle lightly with pickling salt.
    Let stand 3 hours.
    Drain and rinse.
    Add: vinegar, sugar and
    brown sugar.
    Place in cheese cloth bag and add to above the following: cloves, cinnamon sticks, mustard seed and
    allspice. Bring vegetable and syrup slowly to boil.
    Reduce heat and cook slowly about 1 hour.
    Seal in sterilized jars.
