Old Fashioned Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter, softened
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. molasses
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Beat butter at medium speed and add sugar, beating well. Add egg and molasses. Combine flour and next 4 ingredients. Add to creamed mixture alternately with water, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix after each addition. Pour batter into a lightly greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve with whipped cream or lemon sauce.
