Red Beet Eggs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    4 cloves
    1 (No. 2) can beets
    1 c. vinegar
    1/2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Drain and measure juice from beets.
    Add enough water to make 1 cup.
    To this juice add vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper and cloves, then bring to a boil.
    Pour this hot liquid over beets and let stand 24 hours.
    Remove beets and add 6 hard-cooked eggs.
    Let stand in juice 8 hours.
    If you like eggs a dark red, put 1 teaspoon of red coloring in juice before adding eggs.
