Apricot Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dried apricots, cut in small pieces
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening, softened
    1 egg
    1/2 c. fresh orange juice
    2 c. self-rising flour, sifted
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1/4 c. water
Preparation
    Cover apricots with warm water and soak for 30 minutes.
    Drain and grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
    Line with wax paper and grease paper.
    Mix shortening, sugar and egg.
    Stir in the water and orange juice.
    Blend flour, liquids, nuts and apricots.
    Pour batter into pan and let 20 minutes.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 55 to 75 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
    Remove wax paper and cool on rack.
