Chicken Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tender, fat hen
    2 c. flour
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    buttermilk
Preparation
    Stew chicken until tender and has plenty of broth.
    Add butter to season; salt and pepper to taste.
    Blend ingredients to make dough.
    Roll out on board until thin.
    Cut in strips and drop in boiling broth.
    Cook 5 minutes.
    Add some rich milk to make a gravy and cook 3 to 5 minutes.
    Do not stir while cooking.
